Dry Needling
What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a treatment technique based on Western acupuncture principles. It is used to address local muscle tension and trigger points in muscles and around joints.
A trigger point is a sensitive area located deep within muscle tissue and associated with local metabolic changes. It can cause significant tenderness in the affected muscle and may also refer pain to other areas of the body.

When Can Dry Needling Be Used?
Dry needling may be used to address muscle tension, trigger points and restricted mobility in various areas and conditions, including:
-
Neck and shoulder pain
-
Lower back pain
-
Restricted muscle and joint mobility
-
Nerve-related pain
-
As part of migraine management
The suitability of treatment is always assessed individually, based on the client's condition and needs.
How Is Dry Needling Performed?
During treatment, a thin needle is inserted into a tight or sensitive area of the muscle. You may experience a slight prick or a brief, involuntary muscle twitch during the procedure.
Sterile, single-use needles are always used.
If you have a bleeding disorder, an active infection or are pregnant, please discuss the suitability of the treatment with your practitioner before proceeding.
